Review: CHANEL Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation

CHANEL products are a topic I've never ventured into, for no particular reason at all but I soon as I got my hands on their new launch, the Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation, it was love at first swatch. It seemed to be the best foundation I've seen in a very long time but unfortunately it wasn't for me. But first, let's talk about the positive aspects:

Promising to be a lightweight, light to medium coverage foundation whilst smoothing and evening out the complexion with a velvety matte, yet luminous finish.

I loved the runny constancy, it just melts quickly and beautifully into the skin applied with fingers or a brush. The finish is matte but not powdery at all. I have combination skin and this seems to stop me  from getting as shiny in my t-zone as usual. I think it would be great for girls with oily skin cause it provides a matte finish without looking too flat. For all the dry skin girls I'd recommend wearing a good moisturiser or primer underneath.

I's also like to address the tiny sleek Packaging. Even though it is not housed in luxurious glass bottle it is very compact and practical and you still 30ml of foundation. Great for travelling I think.

Now onto the one (yet important) downside to this foundation. Like all the other CHANEL bases, this foundation is quite heavily scented. At first I didn't think it would be a problem (the scent is actually quite nice) but after wearing it for a day or two I noticed weird dry patches and itching red spots on my face. I was really confused about it cause due to my insensitive skin I never had this kind of reaction before. So I went to a dermatologist and as it turns out I'm allergic to the scent in the foundation, which is a bummer cause I REALLY loved this foundation.. :(

All in all it think this foundation is amazing but I'd advise people who never tried a CHANEL base before or people with sensitive skin to be careful with this base. Get a sample first or make sure you can return it in case you get an allergic reaction like I did.

What do you think about this foundation? Have you tried it yet? Let me know in the comments! xo
