Blogmas Day 3: First Impression - MAC Holiday 2014 Pigments

fltr: Whisper Pink, Tan, Rose, Reigning Riches (Glitter), Heritage Rouge

Hi lovelies! A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the Rose/Pink Pigment Set by MAC on my Instagram but I only had the chance to play with them once. So today I'm going to be doing a sort of first impressions/swatch post on these beauties.

For some reason MACs' holiday collections never used to be something I got excited about. I know this sounds weird for someone who spends a lot of money on makeup but I just found them to be pretty overpriced. But this year - let me tell you - this year they had me staring at the screen. Before we get into the products can we just take a moment and talk about the packaging?! It's absolutely beautiful. The box itself feels really steady and luxury and the lid is covered in black/silver glitter - amazing!

Now onto the pigments. The set comes with four pigments (each containing 2.5 grams) and one glitter (containing 3.9 grams) and retails for €38 in Germany (£26 in the UK and $35 in the US). The colours range from a light pink to a deep pink and plum. First we got 'Whisper Pink' which is a light pinky beige with a soft shimmer. It swatches really nicely and was easy to apply as an even layer. It's very longwearing and reminds me a lot of the colour Sin from Urban Decay which is one of my all time favourite colours. Next is 'Tan', a beautiful pinky bronze with gold shimmer. Even though it's a little darker I still think it's day time appropriate and looks beautiful with a warm brown blended through the crease. 'Rose' is a darker pink with shimmer and although the texture is a bit chunkier than the others it still blends nicely and evenly. 'Reigning Riches' - the glitter - is a true copper with a mixture of small and larger glitter particles. It says on the box that it's not safe to use around the eyes and lips, if you have sensitive eyes you might want to keep that in mind. Last but definitely not least is 'Heritage Rouge' which is a brownish plum with a satin finish. It swatches beautifully and would be perfect for a smokey eye or blended through the crease.

Last time I checked there are still a few available in the US and UK. In Germany this particular set it sold out on the website but the lovely girl at my local MAC counter said you could still buy them in a pro store (Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt).

All in all I think the sets are definitely worth the money and I can't wait to use mine during the holidays. The Rose/Pink Set is only one out of four sets which are just as beautiful. xo, Marie
